Suzanne Hameon

Where did you complete most of your training?
I am from the west coast and went to Nursing School at Vancouver General Hospital. After having lived all over the country I settled here in Toronto and received my BScN from Ryerson.

What is your special area of (clinical/research) interest?
I am a cardiovascular intensive care nurse, with a specialty in heat Pumps (VAD’S). Now I help patient negotiate the confusing waters of the ambulatory clinic.

What is the best thing about working in CHD?
So many happy young people.

What is one thing that you think that all patients with CHD should know? Transitioning into Adulthood is hard, stay a kid at heart forever.

If you weren’t a nurse, what would you be? I have my chef papers, and I would have a small restaurant and cook fabulous food.

Do you have any interesting hobbies or talents or pets or good jokes?
Cooking. Backpacking, and canoeing in the outback. I am #7 of 7 children. I am from Victoria. “Just because you can’t dance doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dance.” “Go out there and do it, I know you can.”
