Dr. Marjan Jariani

Where did you complete most of your training?
I graduated from MD program at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran and then moved to Canada for further training. I did my Anesthesia residency at University of Toronto followed by a fellowship in Cardiovascular Anesthesia at Toronto General Hospital.

What is your special area of (clinical/research) interest?
Perioperative Care of Adult Congenital Heart patient for Cardiac and Non-Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac Anesthesia and Intensive Care, and Perioperative Trans-esophageal Echocardiography.

What is the best thing about working in CHD?
Taking care of patients who are all very unique, and have a wide range of complexity. It is very challenging. Each patient requires his or her own specific plan of care.

What is one thing that you think that all patients with CHD should know?
With appropriate care and follow-ups, you can enjoy a good life and in many cases, a normal or near normal life. You can also improve your life span and quality of life in this way.

If you weren’t a doctor, what would you be?
Difficult question! I really didn’t consider any other profession and I was fortunate as everything worked out well for me!

Do you have any interesting hobbies or talents or pets?
Outside my work, I love to spend time with my family, walk in the nature and read.
