Formal echocardiographic program for adult congenital cardiac patients established.


  • Officially started Southern Alberta Adult Congenital Heart Clinic in Calgary located at the Calgary General Hospital(Support from 2 physicians Dr. Tim Prieur and Dr. Nanette Alvarez with one secretary).
  • Organized an affiliation with the Calgary high risk pregnancy management clinic.
  • Subsequent development of specific focal clinic programs (i.e., Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) to fulfill and support identified needs of the patients in Southern Alberta.


Canadian Adult Congenital Heart Network established (Calgary was one of the first participants – outside of Toronto)


Nursing support added to the clinic.


Clinic moved from the Calgary General Hospital to the Peter Lougheed Centre.


Social work support added to the clinic.


  • Southern Alberta Clinic more formally linked with Edmonton Clinic for patient surgical interventions.
  • Addition of Dr Michael Connelly to the clinic, developed focal interested in the area of the cardiac component of neuromuscular diseases in addition to many other fields within cardiac congenital care.


Expansion on the Connective Tissue clinic from primarily patients with the diagnosis of Marfan Syndrome to many other Aortopathies.


Exponential growth, and evolution of care delivery within the clinic.


Addition of Dr. Robin Clegg to the clinic – established a link to a Cardiac Electrophysiologist trained in Adult Congenital care.


  • Addition of Dr Jillian Colbert to the clinic.
  • Addition of the IHeartChange program to assist with patients who transition from pediatric to adult care of their Congenital Heart Condition.


Connective Tissue Clinic formally becomes the Aortopathy Clinic.


Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Clinic moves to the South Health Campus.

Michelle Keir joins the Congenital and Aortopathy clinics.


Stephen Reynolds is welcomed into the fold.
